The Vectis U12s delivered a resilient performance against a physical New Milton side in their primary match. Despite a narrow 3-2 defeat, the coaching staff noted a massive improvement in form compared to the previous week. Tries from Juke and George kept the scoreline close, but it was the defensive effort that truly stood out. The boys maintained a disciplined line and defended with tenacity, even after the squad was stretched thin by two mid-match injuries. This grit remained on display during the subsequent small-sides training games, which featured a high scoring rate and several standout individual performances from the Vectis ranks.

Vectis Volunteer Day.
Off the pitch, Vectis RFC is looking to build on momentum by inviting the local community to a Volunteer and Coaches Information Day. The event will take place at Network Ryde on Saturday, 7th February, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. This open invitation is extended to anyone who loves the game or simply wants to give back to the community, whether they are experienced coaches, former players, or parents who have never set foot on a rugby pitch before.

The event is a relaxed, no-pressure environment where attendees can learn about coaching roles and the various volunteer positions that keep the club running. It will also provide a meet and greet opportunity for the Vectis committee and share important information about the club for all its current volunteers. Vectis RFC provides comprehensive training and support for all volunteers, focusing on the vital role they play in helping young people aged 5 to 18 develop confidence, teamwork, and athletic skills on the Isle of Wight.
Refreshments will be provided for all who attend. Those interested are encouraged to drop the club a message via social media or simply turn up at Network Ryde on the morning of the 7th to grab a cuppa and discover how they can make a difference.
