Big Season Kick Off

Ben Cooper

Its official the season has begun!

Its here.... no more waiting! no more anticipation! the season has begun!

All age groups took to the the training pitches with U6's to U16's at Wootton and COLTS last minute change to Sandown.

The committee arrived at 0800 to set up and get things ready finishing off by 1330. Many parents, guardians and players came through to sign up, get support with the website and GMS RFU systems, to purchase Hats, Socks, Mugs, collect match kit, training kit and pay for their subs. All age groups enjoyed some great training time in the sun and many new children met their team mates and coaches.

The squads are looking healthy and the future is looking bright for Vectis with around 200 training on the first day!

It is not too late though. If you want to join Vectis we are still accepting players from U6-COLTS. we are also looking out for volunteers to support with a whole range of club roles. So if you want to get stuck in and join the mighty Vectis family here is how.

Players

  • Reach out to the contacts on this website or through our social media channels.
  • The first two training sessions are free with no obligation for new players.
  • Sign up to the Pitchero Vectis RFC website and register, completing the consent forms.
  • Sign up and register as a player with the RFU GMS.
  • Pay your yearly subscription fees (full breakdown of fees is available on the website)

Volunteers

The club is run by volunteers alone, volunteering for the club helps keep the club running, supports our young players and helps shape youth rugby on the Isle of Wight.

If you are interested in volunteering there are a number of roles.

  • ad hoc support such as kitchen duties (every age group takes their turn), bake sales and events support - your team mangers will organise this with you.
  • Team level volunteers - first aid, coaches, managers, photographers - speak to your team managers for more information about this. If you want to volunteer for a role, but do not know who to contact please contact the volunteer co-ordinator or any of the committee through the website.
  • Club level volunteers - committee roles, kit management, administration roles, events support and much more. We are sure there will be a role to suit you! please contact any of the committee for more information.
  • Sponsorship - As a youth only rugby club revenue is a huge obstacle for us and we are forever grateful to our amazing sponsors. We are grateful for any level of sponsorship that is offered. Please contact any of the key club contacts to discuss further.

IMPORTANT - No one can volunteer (except for kitchen duties and/or ad hoc event support) without having completed the Volunteers registration and DBS checks, this is in place to keep our children safe and for insurance purposes. we can support you with this.
