Club Heroes:
A rugby club cannot run without its volunteers. A massive thank you to all the parents, guardians, first aiders, coaches, team managers, and committee members who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Special recognition went to Dave Edmonds and Ben Cooper, who were jointly awarded Volunteer of the Year for their massive efforts with press releases, roundups, the club website, and social media work.
The club also extends a huge shout-out to Sam Laidler Photography. Capturing the energy of an awards night is no easy feat, but Sam expertly snapped every moment, handshake, and laugh with professional polish. To view the full set of vibrant photos from the night, head over to the Vectis RFC social media pages and website.
Looking Ahead: Expanding the Vectis Family
Vectis RFC's mission is to show that rugby is a great sport with a fantastic family feel, and that it is truly for everyone. If you want to play or help out next season, the club encourages you to get in touch. Summer training sessions will be announced shortly.
The club has one final, thrilling event of this season: welcoming the mighty Jason Robinson to IWRFC! In collaboration with Isle of Wight Community Sports Coaching and Island Primary Schools, Vectis will host an amazing Tag Rugby Festival. The kitchen will be open for refreshments and snacks for all parents and spectators coming down to watch.
Social events are important for the club as well, a group of Vectis U10s travelled to watch Bristol Bears take on Saracens this weekend. After the game, Allan—Vectis Chairman and U10s Head Coach—was introduced coach-to-coach by the lads to Bristol's Director of Rugby, Pat Lam. Pat assured the young players that Allan is a "Very Important Man!"—a title Allan will undoubtedly be dining out on for the next year!
Anyone else feeling a little emotional at the end of this season!
Up the Vectis!
